Salt Lake City Half-Marathon
Woohoo!! The race is over and we all seem to be doing okay...relatively speaking. :)
Kellie "talked" Karen and I (or was it the other way around??) into running this race a while ago, and this morning was the big event. Karen and Kellie warned me in advance that they would be doing a lot of walking and I would probably run the majority of it by myself. They were right, we stuck together the first three minutes and then it was peace out! Karen was a little slower than usual because she's toting around a little fetus in her stomach and Kellie had never run a half-marathon before and didn't want Karen to race unsupervised (rock on ladies!). They did freakishly amazing.
This course is so much better than the marathon course. (Possibly because it's over 13 miles earlier?) I was very grateful to NOT be doing the marathon :) Seth dropped us off at the U and sent us on our way, he then popped up around mile 5, 8, 10 and the finish. He's become pretty good at tracking me down on the course. I definitely appreciate his support. It makes a huge difference.
My goal time was 2:15 and I just barely made it... I figure 2:15:06-ish is close enough! All in all I think I fared much better than some of the races in the past. I didn't throw up at the end like I did after the Provo Canyon Half, and I didn't cry like I did in the Salt Lake Marathon last year. So yeah...I was pretty proud of myself!
