HdG Carnival

Our town knows how to do the 4th of July.
Carnival.  Parade.  Fireworks.
We completely missed the parade and fireworks, but we definitely hit up the carnival.
So glad we did!
Hazel had a wonderful time.
I'm not actually riding this by myself...for the record.
Don't worry, Averett had a good time, too.
Perfect night.
Seriously.
And a few more of this cute thing...
Want to see even more?

BloodShed

I warned her.

I told her it was a bad idea.

But she was determined to run down the sidewalk in her too-big, ill-fitting flip-flops.

We now have our first set of scraped knees.
(Attempts to properly document this big milestone were overshadowed by the maternal need to hug and kiss this sad little face).

Averett Adventures - Month 2

Oh what a month it's been!

You wouldn't believe it, but...
...I am growing.  Like, lots.
...I'm wearing size 2 diapers (Mom & Dad were sick of me having epic blowouts in my little size 1)
...I am working my way into 3-6 month clothes.
...Dad is teaching me how to "work" in the garage.
...I sleep pretty well at night- I start sleeping around 8, Mom wakes me up and feeds me around 10:30, and then I sleep until 4ish.  Which Mom says works out perfectly with her running schedule.
...I do like to eat a lot, if you believe growth spurts last three weeks, than you could blame it on that!
...I still love to be swaddled (even if it means I have to wear Hazel's pink one).
...I have the cutest, stinkin' smile.  I showed it off a few nights ago, and Mom & Dad have been trying to catch me on camera - I'm too sneaky.
...I'm not sure - but I think Mom took waay more pictures of Hazel.
...I was so excited by my first trip to the pool, I slept right through it!
...I like that my big sister likes me.  She plays with me everyday.  I like waking up to her "Hi Baby!"
(and she's training me to be a Jedi).

party like your 80

Seth's Grandpa turned 80!
If you know Grandpa, you know he is the most patient, kind, sweet, hard-working, wonderful person...if you haven't met him, you're seriously missing out.
We celebrated with a bunch of family, a tasty bbq and as always - hilarious stories.
 Averett brought his party face(s)
Hazel loves hanging out with Seth's her cousins.
great-great aunt S - teaching Hazel the twist
great-grandma has the touch
so tempting

We ended the night with a tradition I had only heard about...

It started with the under-30 pyramid:
(apparently no one double-checked Seth's age)
Then it was time for the over-30 pyramid:
(which ranged in age from 28 - 89!)
Ahh yes, I now feel like an official member of the family - and trust me, the pyramid was not the only Halsey-Family-Only moment I experienced tonight.
