What. A. Day.

Just because I couldn't hang out at this wild woman's Halloween Party...
with this wild family...didn't mean we'd sit home and be lame!

Haunted Halloween Dinner? Check.

Complete with Hot Dog Mummies, Monster Brains & Eyeballs (mac&cheese with peas), Black Chips & Nacho Cheese, Vampire Blood Punch and Monster Eyeballs for dessert!
After feasting we, lowly worker bee parents, gathered up our Queen Bee and visited a few neighbors. Hazel was loving the attention. Seth and I were ready to pass out on the couch, and that was only after visiting three houses!
she is pulling Seth along, so funny.
Thank you, big sister, for the pics of the fam!

pumpkin.pickin.

We have been blessed with a w.o.n.d.e.r.f.u.l fall.
The weather is nice, the leaves are amazing and the pumpkins are ripe for the pickin'.

I think Seth had a talk with Hazel on the importance of the "perfect pumpkin".
Because she clearly took the task very seriously.
She also learned that sticking out your tongue makes the job a tad bit easier.
We enjoyed the hayride, it's been almost three years on the East coast and I'm still in awe of the farms and the rolling hills. So awesome.
I really wish I could make time s.l.o.w down. It's not that I don't want our little Peach Pit to grow up, I just want her to take her sweet time. Because when she white-knuckle grips my hand, I want that moment to last forever.

little.girl.big.girl

Hazel has been using her bumbo (technically it's a bebe-pod) for well over a year, she loves it. We set her up on the counter, Seth and I pull up to the bar and we enjoy dinner. She likes it so much we've never bothered buying a high chair. That is until a week ago. She started throwing huge fits at every meal and finally I sat her down on the stool and she was in heaven. (I swear she still fits in the bebe pod. We weren't even squishing her legs in!) Ever since she has considered herself a "big girl".

For once we were ready for something well in advance, with nothing better to do, we played Hazel's favorite game. Ring Spinning. Yes, the very game that got her crawling a year ago.
Then she went and sat by Dad, and invited me into the corner with them. Um, I am pretty sure I would not fit in the spot she offered.
She a.d.o.r.e.s this guy. (So do I).
Once we'd burned enough time we headed to our church's Trunk or Treat/Chili Dinner.
Can you tell what we are??
Well, Hazel is a Queen Bee, and Seth and I are her worker bees!
(There was no way Hazel would wear antennas or a crown - we opted for sparkly stunted antennas!)
Hazel immediately found Great-Aunt Susan and took up her spot on her lap.
Seth was impressed with my "bee"hive - just a baby one, it looks even smaller in this picture. Oh well!
Then it was time for some serious Trunky Treating. Hazel scored big. We had a good time.
Hazel was a bit exhausted by the end of the night.

We spent a little time documenting the fam today. This holiday season is so hectic, I'd really like to have Christmas cards done early (um yes, you will probably receive them the week after Christmas, like usual). Seth got some great pictures of us, I have no idea what we'll finally decide on, but here are a few that made me smile as I sorted through them. Oh Hazel, this won't work. We are not at Belly Button Beach.

haunted.hometown.hooligans

Every October, we see the signs for the 'Haunted Havre de Grace' tours, and say..."Gee, we should do that." And then November sneaks up and another year passes.
This year I was determined.

I started out a little skeptical, in fact, the scariest part, in the beginning, was the creepy man who crashed our group and started spouting off random facts about our town.
Random.
However, as the night got darker the stories got spookier.

Like, for instance...there's a man buried under these stairs:
And this is an original hitching post, from the days of cobblestone roads, if you listen closely on a quiet night you can hear horse hooves nearby. I wouldn't lie about something as serious as spirit horse hooves.
Although, not creepy...it IS interesting...see the ring to the left of the window? That, my friends, marks a CANNONBALL from the War of 1812. There really is a cannonball in the wall.
True story.
Curse you British for burning and pillaging our city! (I don't really know if there was much pillaging going on- but definitely burning, only three buildings survived.)

Who knows if my facts are accurate, but we also learned about a headless man who roams the streets, he (well, his face) fell victim to yet another British cannonball. We learned of several haunted bakeries, bed and breakfasts, and other creepy tales. I had no idea you could have so much fun on a Saturday night!
My cousin joined us for our scary tour. They started telling us stories of grave robbers, who would steal the bodies for medical science - she was totally into that story. Med Students. They're a different breed!

Girls' Night

Grandma H and Aunt Joan came up to hang out with Hazel and me while the guys went to Priesthood. We were so glad to have them over, and Hazel was excited to get her nails done!
