...and it snowed...

This was a big surprise, this storm was supposed to stay to the south of us, giving us "an inch, at most"....
...try closer to 6-10"!!

It Rained.

It rained today. Yes, the rains came down, the winds blew and the waters came up. In fact, it rained and blew so hard that Seth was sent home from work, at low tide the water was starting to cover the road to his office. Best get them home before high tide.

Peach Pit and I rejoiced, in celebration I scurried around the house, doing dishes, sweeping floors and stuffing lunch in Peach Pit's face. Too much lunch, in celebration she threw up the carrots and melted cheese sandwich.

Once the man was home we commented on how warm it was, the sun was out and the wind had calmed down. We talked of a walk, we fiddled around the house a bit (too much fiddling, apparently) and finally bundled up to go for our stroll. I glanced out the back windows and said to Seth, "Gee, this looks famliar" (as black clouds rolled across the far end of our neighborhood). He laughed and we headed out. The wind was picking up and Seth said, "Gee, this feels familiar". We were determined. Three houses down the rain drops started falling. We laughed and continued. By the end of the street we were soaked, we cut back a little early and headed home. We shook off the water, hung our coats to dry and just as we tossed our clothes in the dryer the sun broke through the clouds and the streets dried up. And we looked at each other and said, "Gee, that is familiar".

Why so familiar? Because every time we go for a walk on a "partly cloudy" day, we get rained on. And every time we get rained on we get home just in time for the sun to come out. I'm sure the neighbors think we're crazy, taking our girl out in the rain, but really? It doesn't bother us, and it's become normal to us.

We went for a walk later today. The sun was shining and it was wonderful.

Sorry, no pictures, but just imagine three wet cats and you've got it!

Hazel - In Motion

***I know about the video problems. They work off and on, I'm trying to get if fixed for good.***

Just a sampling of the past month's video archives...

She's learning the art of the sippy-cup...who taught her to chug??

If you watch close...and long enough...you will see:
A) the scissor-kick turn
B) a bit of her wave (yes...floppy wrist and all)
C) her tongue sticking out
D) her crawling skills
E) pulling herself up
Oh yes, all in one video...

The amazing, subconscious, twirling feet...

And of course, when parents get bored...

Hazel Highlights - Month Ten

Gosh, I'm getting old. I'm in the double digits...1-0 months! Since everyone else is making New Year's Resolutions, I thought I would too...
  • I will hang out with my cousin Lila as much as possible (when she's in town) and iChat (when she's not!)

  • I will enjoy every second I spend with my Great-Grandparents! (Great-Grandma had the warmest, coziest seat at Longwood Gardens)
  • I'm getting really good at eating meals with Mommom and Daddad, I will try and keep it up...and try to keep it in my mouth :) I really like eating big-people food.
  • I'll be good, so that Dad can hang out with my uncles. He r e a l l y likes hanging out with his brothers when they're in town. I like them too.
  • Crawling is a w e s o m e. I will continue to perfect the art. There are so many places to explore. I love hiding under the coffee table.
  • I heard Mom and Dad say they would take my pacifier when I turned 1. Ha! I showed them! I decided I'm done with it. They can't even force it on me, I won't take it! I'm sticking to these resolutions! (Don't tell them that sometimes I sneak my thumb in at night when I'm trying to sleep!)
  • I will continue to work on my human-ness...standing on my own two feet. I like to practice by pulling myself up on everything!
  • Holy Snow! I can't believe how cool it is! I will work on making my first snow-angel.
  • The snow is awesome, but seriously? This is supposed to keep me warm? Ugh, I guess I won't complain when the parentals bundle me up.
  • I twirl my feet all the time, it doesn't matter if I'm eating, playing or crying...twirl, twirl, twirl. I think I get it from Mom, she twirls her feet in her sleep. I don't need to change my twirling, do I?
  • Did you know there are lots of little beads in the diaper? I discovered them after a good night's sleep and a really full diaper. I will try to "hold it" while I sleep. Riiight.
  • Really full.
  • So, Lila wanted to teach me how to climb stairs...
  • She's an awesome teacher...okay, so it only happened once, but I'll get back to it! My goal for the year: Make it all the way up annnnd down, safely!
  • I have learned how to wave! I prefer to use both hands, all the time. I won't change that, it makes everyone smile.
  • Who needs a baby-gate, Mom and Dad just have me barricaded in with this giant lovesac! Maybe by the end of the year they won't need it!
  • Santa is a m a z i n g. He brought me my own set of keys! I'll try to be a good girl all year so I can get a car to go with the keys.
  • I want to be better at supporting my family. Aunt Joanie swims, just like Daddad, we went to one of her meets.
  • It was really long, just like Dad's...I just couldn't keep my eyes open! I'll try to stay awake at the next one!
  • I still stick my tongue out. All the time! I don't foresee this changing in 2010.
  • Mom tried to teach us how to play the piano, but I think I'm too little for lessons.
  • Looks like I'll have to wait a little while before setting a piano-goal.
  • I use my legs to turn around on the floor, Grandma calls it my scissor-kick turn. I'm unique.
  • Gooo, I am done with the cold! Maybe 2010 winter won't last forever?
  • I want a dog. Dad says I can play with Amos and Grandma's house until we get one.
  • I know I'm getting more and more mature by the minute, and I have lots of goals and resolutions to work on, but I'd rather just hang out with Daddad.

The Festivities Continue...

The Christmas Festivities went on and on...the pictures added up and the blog ended up left in the dust. At some point they will be posted in an album...at some point :)
