Ahh-Choo!

Seth finds my misery humorous.

Allergies. Awesome. Ahh-choo. Squeak-Swoosh. Rub. Rub. I returned from SLC to a beautiful, green Maryland and pollen. Everywhere. Ahh-choo. Squeak-Swoosh. Rub. Rub. I noticed it first in my eyes, my eyelids are like windshield wipers attempting to wipe with no wiper fluid. In fact, earlier today, I am pretty sure I was getting the squeeeeak-swooosh of a dry wiper every time I blinked. It is not just that they are dry, but it's the itch. Ahh-choo. Squeak-Swoosh. Rub. Rub. Seth starts to laugh when he sees me rubbing both eyes like a wee child. If I could function in a constant state of eye-rubbing I think I would survive the season. No such luck. Ahh-choo. Squeak-Swoosh. Rub. Rub. Oh, have I mentioned the chronic sneezing I am afflicted with? The other night at work, I was cursed with a sneezing attack that, no lie, lasted for an hour. Ahh-choo. Squeak-Swoosh. Rub. Rub. It started just as I was saying goodbye to my last client (thankfully) and continued on as I drove home (no one was injured) and for a long time after arriving at home. Lame. Ahh-choo. Squeak-Swoosh. Rub. Rub. I heard the sweet sound of pollen-killing rain last night as I went to bed. Unfortunately it did not bring as much relief as I had hoped for. Ahh-choo. Squeak-Swoosh. Rub. Rub. My parents can vouch for my evil allergies, I have been prescribed every possible allergy medicine, so please, I don't want to hear how Claritin works so great for you, or how Zyrtec is the greatest thing invented, and if I hear one more person speak of the NuttyPot... Ahh-choo. Squeak-Swoosh. Rub. Rub. the only comfort I find comes in a pretty pink and white capsule. I will sacrifice my alert state of mind for a few hours with no sneezing. Thank you Benadryl. Ahh-Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

House Watch 2008: Week 10

Um, it might be hard to see through the impressive weed growth, but there are actually a few new stakes out there. Progress? Nah.

A New Friend

It's only taken 5 months, but Seth has finally made a new friend. Toad. (What do you expect, I grew up with a cat named Cat). Toad's awesome for Seth. He wakes up every morning at 5:30 to say goodbye to Seth, he's willing to sit on the driveway for hours watching Seth shoot hoops and fiddle around on the car. I think Seth really appreciates Toad's ability to sit quietly and feel comfortable with long pauses in conversation. (Talents I am working on). Toad, you're awesome. Thanks for coming out to play.

Family Bondage

I am to blame. I am to blame for some seriously awesome family bonding while I was in town. I am also to blame for not hanging out with all my buddies (sorry...again!) I am to blame for being horrible with the camera. Thus, I am to blame for an extreme lack of pictures this time around. But, hey... I guess that would also make me to blame for an awesome time!

I had an awesome time hanging out with my little buddies, Mason and Drew. They were good sports when we dragged them all over the Gateway, they insisted on walking on either side of Drew's stroller. This was great, until it came time to go through a door. Neither one wanted to budge. It was awesome trying to squeeze 3-wide through a door made for one. Ah, love them!

Karen and I ventured up to Daybreak to check out decorating ideas in the models. We drove by the temple they are building out there, how fortunate to live so close to so many temples! I can't wait to come out for the open houses. Karen found her dream home while we were wandering around Daybreak (hint, hint Ben) and I came close to tears when I realized just how much more affordable housing is in Utah versus Maryland! Boohiss!
Madison is pretty stinkin' cute. We hung out a little while I was in town. She's a cutie. I figured we might as well hang out now, because at some point she'll definitely be too cool for me!

Below is something I definitely miss. The Gaufin Clan is pretty much amazing when it comes to singing Happy Birthday, to say we take pride in our abilities would be an understatement. But hey, I'll let you judge for yourself....(I love the look on Madison's face).

It was good hanging out with all of you, thanks Openshaw fam for letting me stay at your house again, and to Mom and Dad for not only letting me sleep at your house too, but for taking me to Joe Vera's (tasty Mexican in Provo). And yes, Karen, I definitely appreciated the Cafe Rio. (Why can't we have one in Maryland) I had an awesome time, and really enjoyed just spending time with all of you. Hopefully I'll be back out sooner than later!!

House Watch 2008: Week 9

Hmm, I'm seeing a whole lot of "watch" and not much of "house".

Super Sistah Saturday!

Yes, it was WINDY!

I guess spending 2+ hours running with me wasn't quite enough for Kellie and Karen, they wanted to continue the Sister Bondage. We met up with Mom, Aunt Genie and KayCee for an enjoyable, windblown day at the Tulip Festival at Thanksgiving Point. It was lots of fun, even if it was uber-windy! Thanks Mom for putting it together!

SLC Half-Marathon...Accomplished.

Rock on SisterPants! 13.1 miles had nothing on us! I think we all had the goal in mind to beat our times from last year, and YES we DID! Last year I ran it in a little over 2:15, this time I snuck in just under 2:15. It was awesome running with the Sistahs, I was pretty worried that going from sea level to 4500 feet would pretty much kill me over. Luckily, Kel and Karen gave me some awesome encouragement (basically told me to suck it up) and we finished strong!
Seth is always my number one fan, since he couldn't come out to support me, he was nice enough to send his mom! (She was actually in SLC visiting her sister). They popped up several times along the course with a great sign and a lot of cheering. Thanks!
Can't wait for next year!
Karen has some pretty sweet pictures on her blog (Lonsdale fam)

Thanks Mom H & Aunt Sondra for all of the cheering, it was GREAT to see you along the course. That was officially my first "Race Sign" thanks!!

Hairy Salt Lake!

Mom always told me to leave a place better than I found it. So, I always head to Salt Lake City armed with my scissors, comb and some color. Today was the super-hair-day. Some think that I am going out of my way to do their hair when they come to town, but in reality it's just me being selfish. I get to spend the whole day seeing friends. How often when you go on vacation can you say, "alright, we can hang out from 2pm-3pm, ...and looks like I can hang out with you from 5:30pm-6:30pm." Seriously, how often do you have the power to "schedule" your buddies! I had a great time, it was awesome seeing all of you. I hope I have mended your hair-woes for now! Ashley was the superstar for being my last client of the day. Always sooo good to see you!

House Watch 2008: Week 8

Another week...Oh wait...what's that?

It looks like our neighbors have taken it upon themselves to get this show on the road.
Thank you, little neighbors, thank you.
