Hazel Highlights - Month 3
- HANDS! I have them. They can reach, grab and grip. Sometimes I grab on tight to my own hands and then I kinda panic when I can't let go, I'll have to work on that.
- I have a Grandpa G! He must think I'm special, he made a special trip with Grandma G to come see me.
- Grandma G is funny. She giggles when I laugh at her.
- This playmat is the COOLEST!
- Sleep is good. I don't know why my parents didn't tell me how cool it is to sleep all night, I totally would have started earlier. Instead of waiting until a week or two ago.
- Mom and Dad are happy when I'm happy. I thought they liked it when I cried, but apparently they like it even better when I just smile and laugh when I'm awake.
- Dad blessed me, it was a very special day, I felt very important and everybody made a big fuss over me.
- Important lesson...when the parents put me in my stroller to watch them work on the garden, I shouldn't complain, otherwise they'll make me get out and weed.
- Mom runs. I had no idea, but now we go a lot. I like the way the wind feels in my three hairs when we cruise along.
- I think I sit up really well, but I heard Mom tell Dad that I kind of look like a "bobblehead"...what's a bobblehead?
- I like to be swaddled up like a worm.
- I don't like when I de-swaddle myself.
- Guess what? It's not a bad thing to wake up on my stomach. Each time I did it last week it scared me, but this week when I woke up there I realized just how comfy it was. Don't know why Mom still insists on putting me to sleep on my back, the tummy's where it's at!
- So, I know people kept worrying about my weight (I told you not to worry)...well, just to put your fears at ease, while Dad was at the doctor's I asked them to weigh me, and guess what?! You don't need to worry, I'm a good gainer.
- No, really...I wasn't kidding when I said I don't like to be de-swaddled!
- I like baseball, especially the O's. They must like me, I got a "First Game Certificate," just for showing up!
- There is a right way...and a wrong way to sit in the swing.
- BBQs are awesome on Memorial Day, especially when it means I get to hang out with Grandma H.
- I like that no matter how much I grow, I know I'm still Mom and Dad's little Peach Pit

Down for the Count...
I scooped up the baby and Seth asked me to drive home, not a good sign. (Ahem, my driving record is spotless...Seth just typically drives when we're together)
Seth creeped up the stairs and laid down on the floor, yes, the wood floor. Seth doesn't have the greatest back, apparently a few of his vertebrae are lined up funny, so he throws his back out from time to time, but typically a night on the floor heals it. (Usually that is done on the carpet next to our bed).
I offered the patch of carpet next to our bed, Seth looked at me with puppy eyes, that made it clear he was done doing stairs. I grabbed him a pillow and a blanket.
I rushed off to put baby down for the night, and forbid Seth from moving a muscle. Right, I could hear him trying (unsuccessfully) to move around. Upon my return, I was worried by what I saw.
Pale.
Shaking.
Nauseous.
None of the above typically describe Seth. I asked if I should take him to the doctor (at this point I'm pretty sure there's pressure on his spinal column and he will soon be paralyzed- I've watched a lot of doctor shows, and in my mind I am already ordering the Jazzy wheelchair.)
Seth convinces me to let him take some ibuprofen and "sleep it off," if it still hurts in the morning he will go to the doctor. (Now I really know something is wrong, Seth never takes medicine and he has NEVER volunteered to go to the doctor.)
I grab my blankie and curl up on the couch. Keeping one eye open, watching his toes for movement.
Morning comes and we head to the doctor. Easier said than done, it took several hobbles, a few wobbles and lots of grimacing to get Seth to the car.
Doctor looks him over and just as he suspected he's thrown his back out pretty badly and pulled some muscles in the process. She gives him some meds and off we go.
Guess I'll cancel the Jazzy order.

They ARE Grand!
Why is she so happy?
Because the grandparents are in town!!
Grandma and Grandpa G came out to visit for Peach Pit's blessing. It was sooo good to see them. It was Peach Pit's first time meeting her Grandpa. She really liked him. They were only out for the weekend, and mostly helped us get ready for the blessing festivities. Thankfully they were happy to help out, hang out and play with the little one.
Personally I don't think they look old enough to have a grandkid, let alone 4!

The Girl is Bless-ed!
It was Peach Pit's big day today. She started the morning off right, with a perfectly timed exploder right before we walked out the door to church. Thankfully it was a relatively quick clean up and we were on our way.
Seth gave her a very nice blessing and Peach Pit behaved very well. She kept her eye on Seth through the entire blessing, I guess she wanted to make sure he knew she was listening.
Unfortunately the dress didn't fit in the car seat, so we brought home a nek-ked baby.
